Oil paint on canvas with flys

One of the features of painting by a body of water is the number of insects in the environment. At the time of photographing the finished painting of the water’s edge at Chew Lake, for adding to the website (www.artists-connect.co.uk), four insect bodies were still trapped in the sticky oil paint. The question is, ‘are they part of the narrative of producing this painting on location and should be left on the canvas or should they be removed?’.
