Sitting in my studio with the cold wind and rain from storm Freya buffeting the windows it seems strange that 4 weeks ago, at the beginning of February, I was able to go painting on location in reasonable comfort.

Its taken me about 3 months to complete this painting. When I started out one of the things I didn’t know was that it would take this long. Others things were what it would finally look like when finished and what it was going to be called.
My imagined conversation with a friend about this painting I produced in June.
Analogy or metaphor? I confess I’m unclear on the difference between these concepts.
Imagine lying on your back in a woodland clearing. Its a warm afternoon and looking up through the branches the sky is cloudless and deep blue.
I remember being drawn to closely examine one of Turners wonderfully light, wispy amorphous skies and was fascinated to find the subtle highlight in a cloud was in fact a thick smear of paint.
